Located in the heart of surrey, a picturesque British farm shop and bistro are looking for their first head chef to take the reins and help launch the bistro. They take pride in sourcing the finest locally produced ingredients, from fresh fruits and vegetables to high-quality meats and dairy. The bistro offers a delightful dining experience, where they transform these exceptional ingredients into delicious dishes that celebrate the best of British cuisine.

As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for creating exceptional farm-to-table dining experiences for their guests. You will lead a dedicated team of chefs, manage kitchen operations, develop seasonal menus, and ensure the highest standards of food quality, taste, and presentation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with fresh, locally sourced ingredients in a beautiful setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute seasonal menus that showcase the best of British cuisine, utilizing locally sourced ingredients.
  • Manage kitchen operations, including inventory, ordering, and food costing to maintain profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Oversee food preparation, to maintain high standards of quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with our farm shop team to source the freshest and most sustainable ingredients.
  • Train and Develop kitchen staff.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef in a high-quality restaurant or bistro.
  • Strong knowledge of British cuisine and a passion for working with locally sourced ingredients.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in menu development, food costing, and kitchen management.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations.
  • Creativity and a keen eye for detail in food presentation.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • An understanding in current market trends to include suppliers and products.
