We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join the team at an award-winning pub and modern restaurant in the Essex countryside. This well known establishment is known for its exceptional food, innovative menu, and outstanding service. The group is an award winning group with Michelin standard restaurants around London.
As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, maintaining high culinary standards, and ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development, and cost control
- Assist in overseeing the kitchen staff, ensuring proper training, and implementing necessary performance evaluations
- Manage and supervise the food preparation process, ensuring adherence to quality standards and food safety regulations
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth and timely service
- Monitor and control inventory levels, minimize waste, and maintain optimal stock rotation
- Assist in conducting food cost analysis and implementing cost-saving strategies
- Assist in creating and updating the menus, taking into account seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a reputable restaurant or pub
- In-depth knowledge of culinary techniques and practices
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
